Monterrei

Close to the Portuguse boarder, DO Monterrei takes its name from Monterrey, meaning the king’s mountain in Castilian. There is a slow comeback of native grapes with winemaking styles similar to those elsewhere in Galicia – fresh, fruity whites and young Mencía reds. Doña Blanca, Treixadura and Godello are the main grape varieties grown in the region.
